Friday Flowers: Camellias

It's that time of year when camillias are starting to bloom in Northern California. And it's always a pleasure to see their pinks and reds and whites unfolding in such frothy abundance. It's fun to walk around the neighborhood and look at all the different kinds of camillias showing off....

So I thought I'd share a bouquet of ruffly camillias with you - focusing on just the red ones this time. These flowers come from the bushes just in my yard (and my neighbor's too)...I love all of them, but I'm particularly mesmerized by the speckled and striped ones - as if an artist hand-painted each petal for a dazzling effect:

Have a Happy Frilly Friday!

  2. How lovely! Haven't seen Camellia's growing since moving from SC ten years ago. Your photography is exquisite and captures the finest detail and true colors. We also had gardenia's, both miniature and full sized. Of course there was always the annual Camellia show which I didn't attend. But I once had a huge bouquet of gardenias and I moved it from room to room depending upon where I was in the house. I felt like such a bride! LOL! Thank you for your Friday flowers even though it's Sunday, it's also overcast so I am sooo enjoying your pictures.

  3. Love the flower pictures. Especially since we have snow on the ground here in Missouri and have had since Christmas.
Thanks for the info on the Millenium piece, I have them holding it for me at my local shop. Can't wait.
